Join us on Friday 21 November to celebrate his retirement. After an extraordinary 44 years of service, Mr Jim Boddy will retire at the end of this year, leaving behind a legacy of compassion, commitment and quiet strength that has shaped generations of St Andrew's students and families. Since joining the School in 1982 as a graduate Science teacher, Mr Boddy has served under four Heads of School and in an astonishing range of roles: pastoral leader, Head of Year, Head of House, Acting Head of Science, Duke of Edinburgh Coordinator, sports coach, choir liaison, and most recently Science Instructor for the Junior and Gawura Schools. It is even rumoured he filled in for the 1st XV rugby team one day in the 1980's when they were short of players. Whatever the role, Jim has been known for his steady kindness, his thoughtful leadership, and his unwavering belief in every student's potential. Earlier this year, Jim received the inaugural Legacy of Light Award, presented by NSW Deputy Premier and Minister for Education, The Hon. Pru Car MP, at the 140th Anniversary Assembly. In a moment that perfectly reflected the esteem in which he is held, the Deputy Premier delayed a Cabinet meeting in order to present, later remarking that it was "so worth it." Jim was met with multiple standing ovations, a heartfelt acknowledgment of the profound impact he has had on our community. His contribution has been felt in every corner of the School — in classrooms and science labs, on basketball courts, in choir stalls, at camps, and in countless quiet conversations that helped students believe in themselves. That influence was beautifully captured by 2019 School Captain Layla Harris, who said in her Valedictory speech: "To Mr Boddy, my Middle School coordinator and basketball coach: you have been such a positive influence on myself and to all the students in the class of 2019. The School is truly so lucky to have you as a member of its community, and I have been so fortunate to not only begin my time at St Andrew's with you but to also end it this year with you as my coach, winning the ISA basketball premiership." Mr Boddy's official farewell will take place at this year's Evening of Celebration and Prizegiving (ECAP), where the School community will acknowledge his remarkable four-decade contribution. We warmly invite all members of the Old Andrean community to come and wish Mr Boddy well at a farewell event later in the term. Mr Boddy's farewell from Alumni, Hessians and Friends Friday 21 November – 7pm CBD pub – details confirmed very soon We're conscious that this will be very popular, so please register using the link here - https://oaa.com.au/boddyfarewell We are also sending around a card to express our gratitude and best wishes as he embarks on his new chapter.
